Stringing up the Beads
 

 

 

Food has always been the “glue” that binds people together, especially in Singapore. In my family, between my mum & myself we have favourite family recipes & personal recipes that have been passed from my ancestors.

Allow me to share one of my recipes for you to try out with your loved ones. I hope you will have fun as you savour your culinary efforts.

Ingredients:

1 whole chicken (cut into 8 pieces)
3 big onions
3 garlic
2 cm ginger
2 tbsp curry powder (Baba ‘s Meat Curry Powder)
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 tbsp tomato puree
1 stick cinnamon
3 cardamoms
5 cloves
4 potatoes (cut into halves)
2 fresh tomatoes ( cut into 4 pieces)

Method:

1. Grind onions, garlic & ginger in blender.
2. Heat oil & fry cardamoms, cloves & cinnamon.
3. Add ingredients to curry powder fry till fragrant.
4. Pour 4 glasses of water till boiling.
5. Add in chicken pieces till half cooked
6. Add in potatoes & tomato puree.
7. Serve curry with bread or rice.

Serving: 4 –5 people.
